The Cat, The Sock and The Challenge
14th September

Casting on…

Today the warm weather officially ended in our house! All the summer clothes were packed away and the hot water bottles and blankets were dragged out. I love winter.

Though I think I might be a little ahead of myself with the hot water bottle, Andrew can still walk around in a t-shirt and I did need to open a window earlier because it was too warm, but it’s almost time for warm things. I like the snow and days when you don’t even bother getting dressed because you know that you have no chance of getting to the shop without falling on your butt a good few times, so what’s the point! I think Christmas has to be my favourite time of the whole year. Though this Christmas will be all new things, me and Andrew travelling to see our families instead of just being with them, decorating our own house and finding a new Church that does things as well as our old one (it’s going to be a challenge!)

I have my Christmas knitting almost all sorted out now. I’ve not started any of it but I think this draft of my knitting list is going to be the last, which is good. I don’t think we have the money to plant a new tree to replace the one I’ve used in writing all my other drafts…

I have a new challenge! It’s called “2010 Christmas 1.5kg Stash Busting (more if I buy more wool before Christmas) Challenge!”. I’ll revise the name. Basically I have to use up at least 1.5kg of my stash before Christmas. If I buy any more yarn between now and my finish date I have to double the amount and add that to my total. It’s going to be hard! I had a fun time adding up how much wool I had and went for about 1/3 of it for my challenge. I might recalculate and make the total bigger, but I think it’s a good starting block. Technically this challenge was supposed to start on September 1st alone with Six Sock September but I didn’t get myself sorted with adding so it will start the day after I finish my 6th sock, or the 1st October, which ever comes first…

I have now started my Monkey sock, I’m really enjoying it.

I am using Araucania Ranco Solid in a lovely Green.I am using Araucania Ranco Solid in a lovely Green.

I really love it! It seems to grow so quickly! I like it that I can do a repeat put it down and do something else for a bit, then pick it up again. I’m hopeful about finishing… I think it might actually be possible!

Oh… yeah… Last thing there is a cat on our roof… It was there yesterday but it jumped threw itself off and scared the heck out of me! Then after licking itself and doing that thing cats do when they have done something stupid, that look they have that says “I meant to do that…” It climbed back up and sat there yowling all day! As if someone had made it sit up there and it had no way of getting down! Stupid animal… I love cats but sometimes they can just be plain stupid…

Casting off…
